JOIN THE TEAM
The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate billing and collection of wholesale sales, developing and maintaining the integrity of the AR and fuel systems at the corporate level, providing instruction, guidance and training as needed on the AR and Fuel systems to company employees and to make recommendations to improve existing control policies and procedures for the company to safeguard company assets. Position is also responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate preparation and filing of fuel excise taxes and for ensuring the accuracy of accounting records through the timely reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
RESPONSIBILITIES BY COMPETENCY:
Business Results Orientation
Ensures the timely collection of accounts receivables

Monitor customer compliance with company credit policy and communicate violations to appropriate company personnel

Assist in identifying and correcting breakdowns in policies and procedures

Assist in maintaining the accuracy of the accounting data and safeguard company assets through timely reconciliation of assigned accounts.

Continually assist in the improvement of procedures, policies and protocols.

Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of fuel excise taxes

Assist with monthly P&L preparation and review

Investigate all work-related and/or customer injury/property damage accidents, identifying the conditions responsible and corrective action needed

Maintain regular attendance and follow designated safety practices

Perform other duties not listed as required.
Communication
Communicate all collection issues to the Director of Finance and other necessary personnel

Provide assessments of the performance of department personnel
-
Identify concerns/opportunities regarding AR and Fuel system operations and recommend improvements

Communicate effectively with internal and external customers both verbally and in written form

Interact with outside audit firm as needed during the interim and year-end audit process
Customer Service Orientation
Ensures the timely and accurate billing of sales and collection of accounts receivable

Provide timely response to accounting inquiries

Provide excellent customer service by striving to proactively support the Corporation with efficient solutions
Developing Talent
Provide staff with coaching and on-going training and feedback

Promote team development, feedback, cross training and follow-up with direct reports through ongoing interaction and completion of the company performance management program

Maintains a consistently high standard of staff performance

Complete Safety training as required
Technical Expertise
- Knowledge of company accounting policies and procedures; control policies and procedures as set by company

Understands the accounting software package and ensures that it is being utilized to full capacity

Knowledge of fuel taxes and reporting requirements

Develops and maintains written accounting procedures

Maintain knowledge of current collection methodologies

Assist in trouble shooting accounting problems or errors

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and statements of financial accounting standards (SFAS)

Has the ability to act in interim capacities in any direct report position
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these units and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities also include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Continually works toward developing direct reports for future positions with added responsibilities.

Education: Bachelors Degree Business with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance
Experience: 3+ year of accounting experience or experience in a related field
Language Skills: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English in a manner
that is sufficient for effective communication with groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
Skills and Abilities:
- Requires general knowledge of related organization policies and procedures and their application to cases not previously covered

Ability to exercise considerable judgment to work independently toward general results, to devise new or modify and adapt existing methods, techniques and procedures to meet new or unusual requirements and to make related decisions controlled by precedent and within limits of established policies
