SUMMARY
Responsible for managing daily Distribution (Warehousing) accounting functions including: compiling and preparing general ledger entries, aiding in the preparation and distribution of financial statements, reconciling multiple balance sheet and income statement accounts, preparing necessary monthly and quarterly reports, and completing other financial analysis and projects as determined by Controller. Coordinating activities and processes with Controller to ensure integrity of sales, inventory, and financial data. In addition, the Distribution Accounting Manager is responsible for managing support functions related to sales invoicing and inventory processes to ensure effective management of resources along with providing functional guidance and supervision of support personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES BY COMPETENCY:

*Coordinate with AR Credit Analyst to ensure awareness of delinquent accounts and assist in collections as necessary.
*Assist with inventory cycle counts and reconciliations.
*Provide support to direct reports and warehouse operations on Inventory related activities and problem solving.
*Liaison to GRW operations for accounting functions.
*Maintain fixed asset system for respective companies.
*Reconcile accounts in accordance with the time frame established by Controller.
*Assist with year-end work paper preparation, information gathering, and communications with outside
auditors
*Assist in the improvement of procedures continually
*Ensure timely and accurate information is produced
*Investigate all work-related and/or customer injury/property damage accidents with direct reports, identifying the conditions responsible and corrective action needed
*Maintain regular attendance and follow designated safety practices
Perform other duties not listed as required
Communication
*Ensure management is kept apprised of all pertinent issues
*Work with other mid-managers on effective operation of departments
*Seek solutions proactively to better support both operations and sales teams
*Communicate in a professional, effective and appropriate manner with customers, suppliers, vendors and direct reports
*Ensure professional image in all internal and external correspondence
*Notify appropriate personnel of discrepancies and error corrections
Customer Service Orientation
*Maintain customer service levels and coordinate activities with Distribution Operations
Handle customer contacts in an ethical, professional and efficient manner
*Respond promptly to all customer inquiries and follows through to ensure satisfaction
*Provide timely response to accounting inquiries for internal and external customers
*Assist the Controller as needed on special assignments

*Promote and oversee team development, training, and enthusiasm
Provide experience, skills and expertise as needed to co-workers and other divisions
*Ensure performance appraisal system is executed according to company standards and coaching is ongoing throughout the year
*Challenge oneself to further develop skills that relate to the position
*Gain position, business, and industry knowledge through training and personal study
*Complete Safety Training as required
Technical Expertise
*Develop and maintain knowledge of processes, products and services
Maintain up to date knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and statements of financial
accounting standards (SFAS)
*Act in interim capacity in any direct report position
Develop and maintain knowledge of contracts, purchasing, and office administration procedures
*Understand the accounting software packages and uses them to full capacity
Assist in trouble shooting accounting problems or errors
*Develop and maintain job procedures for position and ensure job procedures are maintained for direct reports'
positions
*Adhere to all Wallis Companies safety policies and report all safety incidents to supervisor immediately
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct: Inventory Coordinator, Billing Specialist (2-4 total)
Indirect: Inventory Specialist (1-2)
Person is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of each position. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work; managing training and certifications; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees up to and including termination with supervisor’s approval; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Continually works toward developing direct reports for future positions and added responsibilities.

Education: *Required: Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Accounting or Finance.
Experience: *Over 3 years up to and including 5 years in accounting /finance field.
*Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience.
Language Skills: *Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English in a manner that is
sufficient for effective communication with groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Skills and Abilities: Ability to perform a wide variety of duties requiring a general knowledge of related organization policies and procedures and their application to cases not previously covered. Ability to use considerable judgment to work independently toward general results, to devise new or modify and adapt existing methods, techniques and procedures to meet new or unusual requirements and to make related decisions controlled by precedent and within limits of established policies. *Must be proficient using a computer and Microsoft Office.
