SUMMARY
Responsible for the design, delivery and execution of orientation and education programs. Includes delivery of programs as well as participation in content design. Also responsible for facilitation of computer-based educational initiatives. The Learning Specialist will support the new hire process and work closely with recruiting. Learning Specialist will deliver classes in different locations as necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES BY COMPETENCY: (*denotes an essential function of the position)

*Assists with design and development of classroom and computer-based educational initiatives in support of organizational goals
*Facilitates new hire orientation and other education programs as necessary
*Ensures electronic new hire paperwork is completed accurately and completely in accordance legal requirements and company policy
*Supports Balanced Scorecard initiatives or other business needs
*Maintains regular attendance and follows designated safety practices
Performs other duties not listed as required

*Proficiency in written and verbal communication skills

*Assists customers with electronic paperwork and scheduling orientation as needed
*Demonstrates consistency and professionalism while upholding company policies and procedures

*Develops strong relationships with stakeholders to encourage buy-in and support for initiatives
Provides superior service to all internal and external customers
Seeks feedback from customers to understand and improve orientation and other education programs
Uses appropriate and timely communication to provide follow-up to customers after orientation as well as other education programs

Developing Talent
*Delivers all Education sessions with credibility and confidence
*Uses techniques and skills prior to and during class delivery to actively engage all participants in the learning experience
*Assists other subject matter experts in effectively conducting Education programs
*Assists with creation of online assessments to ensure that the learner has an understanding of the new skills
Provides behavioral feedback on learners’ performance during or after the learning experience
Stays current with trends in areas of responsibility
Completes specific developmental tasks as assigned by the Education Manager
*Completes Safety training as required
Technical Expertise
*Using adult learning methodologies, designs, delivers and conducts effective training classes-both computer-based and classroom- that achieve desired results on class effectiveness measurements
*Establishes credibility as a facilitator by demonstrating understanding of operating procedures, using appropriate terminology, relevant business examples, and helping participants apply learning to on-the-job situations
*Oversees departmental resources such as supplies, facility maintenance, and education equipment
*Stay familiar with policies, bulletins, procedural changes and other publications that can have an impact on educational content or materials
Develops tracking systems that will streamline Education processes and procedures
Uses knowledge of company operations to ensure alignment of educational materials
Converts key knowledge, skills and abilities into content that can be understood and applied by participants
*Adheres to all Wallis Companies safety policies and report all safety incidents to supervisor immediately
*Train the Trainer experience highly preferred
*Leverages HRIS to drive maximum productivity; trains others as necessary
*Understands project management and how to drive accountability
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no direct reports.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education: *Required: Two-year college degree in related field Preferred: Four-year college degree in related field
Experience: Required: *At least 1 year up to and including 3 years of designing and facilitating training and working with subject matter experts; project management experience preferred; *Retail experience is preferred; *Experience with eLearning authoring tools preferred
Language Skills: *Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English in a manner that is
sufficient for effective communication with groups of managers, clients,
customers and the general public.
*Ability to read, write, speak, and understand Spanish is preferred but not required
Skills and Abilities: (may be representative but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with the position)
*Instructional Design which incorporates adult learning methodologies; Requires intensive knowledge of a specialty field and the use a wide range of procedures. Understanding of how to leverage Computer-Based Training (CBT) into learning curriculum to drive learning and application on the job
*Strong skillset in organizational skills to manage in a fast-paced environment.
*Ability to make decisions by using facts and circumstances surrounding individual problems.
*Ability to use computer and Microsoft Office.
*Ability to effectively present material to large groups.
*Ability to adapt to change
