SUMMARY
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties professionally and working closely with senior HR management. This position carries out these primary responsibilities in the following functional areas and others as required: manages company benefits, employee relations, monitors and manages salary structure for organization, workman’s compensation and other leaves and our car lease program. Assist with all internal and external HR related matters, participate in developing organizational guidelines and procedures, coordinate employee development plans and performance management, utilize HRIS for process improvement, assist with budget monitoring and payroll, keep up to date with latest HR trends and best practices, and assist the HR Manager as needed. The position also acts as a key resource for employees and managers.
RESPONSIBILITIES BY COMPETENCY: (* denotes an essential function of the position)
Business Results
*Ensure accurate data is entered into HRIS to ensure prompt, accurate reporting and responses to inquiries
*Answer questions regarding human resources programs, offerings, policies, and procedures
*Act as resource to managers with employee issues to ensure compliance with company policy and regulations
Manage the compensation program, communicate increases and ensure accurate entry of raises, updates and maintain employee files regarding the tracking of raises and revise compensation practices as necessary
*Monitor the performance management program and revise as necessary
Assist with company benefits for all employee benefit programs, change reporting and approving invoices for payment
*Administer worker’s compensation claims including accurate and timely filing; facilitating communication; track appointments, and document appropriately
*Administer and maintain FMLA records, as well as all other leaves
*Maintain regular attendance and follow designated safety practices
Support HR Manager in resolving employee issues as needed
Assist with development of plan for company’s wellness initiatives and ensure initiatives are executed
Perform other duties not listed as required
Be a backup for the payroll process as needed
Communication
*Keep the HR Manager informed about any customer concerns or problems
*Communicate effectively Human Resource/Payroll related practices, policies, and procedures to the organization
*Communicate in a professional, effective and appropriate manner with internal and external customers
Support key employee communication strategies regarding company benefits
*Develop and implement effective communication and education plans related to assigned areas of responsibility, including but not limited to benefits, compensation, worker’s compensation, leaves of absences, wellness etc.
*Maintain designated portions of HRIS, including reports, and data entry
*Communicate effectively with supervisors, employees, claims adjusters, medical providers, and others involved in the worker’s compensation claims process
Establish effective communication with various vendors to ensure satisfaction with programs and practices
Customer Service Orientation
*Ensure timely action to internal and external customer inquiries and needs
*Assist customers with questions regarding human resources programs, offerings, policies, and procedures
*Seek feedback and listen to expectations of customers
*Maintain and develop relationships with supervisors, employees, and members of management
Complete site and/or customer visits as required
Assess alternatives for existing leave programs offered and recommend changes that may make leave programs more competitive
Develop new and improved practices and procedures to provide more value-added services to customers
Developing Talent
Coach management group on established policies and procedures as it relates to compensation, performance management, leaves, etc.
*Attend training to further enhance professional development, understanding of company goals and strategy and complete training as required to meet regulatory compliance and company guidelines
*Coach employees on existing policies and procedures
*Cross train other team members in area of responsibility and cross train in other areas within the department to ensure adequate resources are available for customers
Work as a team member to help improve individual, department, and organizational productivity
Technical Expertise
*Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations concerning employment including but not limited to ADA, FMLA, EEO, ERISA, FLSA and OSHA within area of responsibility
Maintain and update salary grades, compensation structure, policies/procedures, and all other aspects of base and bonus compensation
Provide support with job descriptions
Complete all required OSHA reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
*Monitor HIPAA privacy compliance
*Maintain metrics related to areas of responsibility, including but not limited to leave of absences, worker’s compensation, wellness, etc.
*Develop and maintain job procedures for areas of responsibility
*Adhere to all Wallis Companies safety policies and report all safety incidents to supervisor immediately
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position may or may not have direct reports based on responsibilities and scope of role.

Education: Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
Preferred: Masters’ Degree
Experience: Required: At least 4+ years in progressively responsible experience in human resources managing benefits, compensation, leaves, worker’s compensation, HRIS, and payroll.
Certificates, Licenses
and/or Registrations: SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR preferred
Language Skills: *Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English in a manner that is
sufficient for effective communication with groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
