IT Solutions Manager

SUMMARY

The Solutions Manager leads the development, implementation, and ongoing support of business technology solutions that improve operational efficiency and decision-making at Wallis Companies. This position bridges strategy and execution by combining technical knowledge with cross-departmental collaboration, project coordination, and analytics oversight. The Solutions Manager supervises the Data Analyst and IT Project Coordinator and serves as a key resource for the evaluation and delivery of process automation, data reporting, and digital forms solutions across the enterprise. This role includes hands-on configuration and development of solutions in platforms such as SharePoint, Power BI, Laserfiche, and Power Automate.

  

RESPONSIBILITIES BY COMPETENCY:

Business Results Orientation

  • Identify opportunities to streamline operations and implement new business solutions across departments.
  • Build and support dashboards, reports, and automation to assist leadership in making data-driven decisions.
  • Propose and develop new workflows and integrations using tools such as SharePoint, Power Automate, and Laserfiche.
  • Ensure effective solution delivery through collaboration with the IT Project Coordinator and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Manage performance and development of direct reports to ensure department and company goals are met.
  • Support data governance efforts by promoting standardization in data definitions, reporting formats, and system integrations.

Communication

  • Collaborate with Operations, Accounting, and all departments to assess needs, gather requirements, and implement improvements.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with technical and non-technical users.
  • Lead or participate in technology planning meetings and strategy sessions with IT leadership.
  • Serve as a liaison between departments and IT to promote engagement and awareness of solution capabilities.

Technical Expertise

  • Configure and develop user-centric solutions across platforms including SharePoint Online, Power BI, Laserfiche, and other web-based or cloud tools.
  • Maintain working knowledge of relational databases, basic SQL queries, and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Participate in the design and build of automated workflows, electronic forms, and integrations.
  • Serve as a technical backup for the Data Analyst and Project Coordinator when needed.
  • Ensure alignment between IT solutions and evolving business requirements.

Customer Service Orientation

  • Act as a trusted advisor to department leads seeking new solutions or system enhancements.
  • Respond to and manage solution-related service requests or enhancements in a timely and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate empathy, responsiveness, and follow-through when engaging end users.
  • Promote user adoption of new technologies through documentation and informal support.

Developing Talent

  • Supervise, coach, and support the professional growth of the Data Analyst and IT Project Coordinator.
  • Develop cross-training strategies and backup coverage for key roles.
  • Contribute to IT’s succession planning goals and ensure knowledge transfer of critical systems and workflows.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the Solutions team.

 Safety

  • Adhere to all company IT security policies and immediately report any security incidents to the supervisor
  •  Proactively identify and report unsafe conditions within IT systems or operations, recommending corrective actions
  • Lead by example in practicing safe IT operations and adhering to company safety policies

Education: Required: Equivalent to a High School diploma, Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field.

Experience: Required: 3-5 years of IT experience in solution development, business systems analysis, or web technologies. Preferred: 2+ years of supervisory or project leadership experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public

 

Skills and Abilities:

 Strong technical knowledge of SharePoint Online, Power BI, Power Automate, and related Microsoft 365 tools.

  • Experience or willingness to learn new platforms such as Laserfiche.
  • Working knowledge of database concepts, dashboards, and business reporting.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead small teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Technology, Tools, and Equipment:

  • Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Excel, SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate)
  • SQL or data querying tools (basic level)
  • Laserfiche, Microsoft Teams, and other business productivity tools

 

Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:

·        Advanced Certifications consistent with the Wallis Tech Level Matrix (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA, clous, networking, or security credentials).

·        Certifications are weighted within the Tech Level Matrix (difficulty, time, and relevance) and contribute to advancement.

·        Preferred examples include PMI, PMP/CAPM, Microsoft Power Platform (PL-200, PL-300, PL-400, PL-600, AZ-900, DP-900), and Laserfiche CPP (Forms/Process Automation) or equivalent certifications.

·        Equivalent combinations of certifications, years of service, and applied expertise may be considered in line with Tech Level thresholds.

·        Valid driver’s license required.
