SUMMARY
The CDL Class A Driver is responsible for delivery of product, to include accountability for loading and unloading of correct products at the right place and time. Drivers are responsible for completing all job duties in a safe manner, complying with DOT and other regulatory guidelines, and ensuring equipment is safe and well-maintained.
RESPONSIBILITIES BY COMPETENCY: (*denotes an essential function of the position)
Business Results Orientation
*Ensure loads are completed in a timely, safe, and accurate manner
*Abide by all DOT rules and regulations
Work unscheduled shifts as needed, maintaining compliance with DOT hours regulations
Utilize tools and technology provided as required in an effective and efficient manner
*Ensure bill of ladings, logbooks, and drop tickets are completed accurately and in compliance with company policy
*Ensure complete and accurate load selections at the Load Facility
*Comply with DOT and company policies regarding weight limits, and pre/post trip inspections
Maximize fuel efficiency of vehicles
Manage time on shift to be as productive as possible
*Maintain regular attendance and follow designated safety practices
Perform other duties not listed as required
Communication
Apprise supervisor/dispatch of problems or issues that arise
*Inform dispatch of operational changes, delivery challenges, maintenance needs, etc…
Ensure communication with customers, suppliers, vendors, and co-workers is professional and appropriate
*Maintain open lines of communication with co-drivers, especially when sharing trucks
*Provide timely information to supervisor/dispatch regarding customer complaints, concerns, issues, etc…
*Provide timely information to supervisor/dispatch regarding product concerns or issues
Inform customers of delivery and request signature on paperwork
Customer Service Orientation
*Maintain professional image of self and vehicle
Exhibit a professional and customer friendly attitude
*Ensure accurate delivery with accompanying paperwork
*Respond appropriately to customer complaints, concerns, issues, etc…
Review customer site for potential issues affecting the customer, other drivers, future deliveries, safety, etc… and report to dispatch.
Developing Talent
*Complete training as required to meet regulatory compliance and company guidelines
Work as a team member to help improve individual, department and organizational productivity
*Develop and maintain skills and knowledge necessary to complete job functions
Share experience, skills and expertise with coworkers, management, customers, etc…. as appropriate
Technical Expertise
*Maintain knowledge of and follow all DOT rules and regulations, loading facility policies and procedures, and any other regulations as required
*Maintain knowledge of software, technology, and tools necessary to complete job functions
*Ensure full understanding of policies and protocols related to bills of lading, logbooks/hours of service, and drop tickets
*Maintain mechanical knowledge necessary to ensure vehicle is in safe working order and that proper paperwork is completed
Maintain geographical knowledge of the region in which Transport operates
*Adhere to all Wallis Companies safety policies and report all safety incidents to supervisor immediately
Safety
Attend and participate in safety meetings
*Work diligently to correct safety deficiencies in a timely manner
*Complete safety training as required
*Follow all safety policies and procedures
*Inform Supervisor and/or Dispatch of unsafe conditions and behaviors
Provide recommendations and suggestions to improve safety and correct/eliminate safety issues
*Report all work-related injuries immediately
*Report all vehicle incidents/accidents or moving violations immediately
Focus on safety at all times so as to avoid preventable accidents and incidents
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no direct reports.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education: *Required: High School diploma equivalent
Experience: *Required: 21 years old
Preferred: 25 years old; At least 2 years of experience driving a commercial vehicle
(Age requirements/preferences are due solely to insurance carrier requirements)
Language Skills: *Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English in a manner that is
sufficient for effective communication with groups of managers,
customers and the general public.

*Patience and ability to manage and accept unforeseen circumstances which disrupt schedules (wait times at loading and unloading facilities delays, interruptions, etc…)
*Ability to adhere to a schedule and anticipate possible deterrents to the schedule

*Ability to read maps and navigate
*Willingness to work various days, evenings, and overnights based on predetermined schedules; hours each day vary based on loads and other, sometimes unplanned, factors
*Willingness to work outside, regardless of weather conditions
Technology, Tools, And Equipment: *Required: Truck, Hopper, End Dump, and Box Trailer
Preferred: Tablet, Electronic logging devices, cell phone, copier/scanner/fax
(Proficiency with preferred items is not required to meet minimum qualifications, but proficiency must be established to complete essential job functions)
Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations: *Required: MVR in compliance with company policy; Class A CDL;
Preferred: DOT medical certification; Transportation Workers Identification Card
